On Monday 14th April 2025, Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) Northern Ireland led a powerful protest outside Eskrine House in Belfast, voicing strong opposition to the Labour Government’s latest round of welfare cuts.
The protest brought together activists, trade unionists, politicians, and academics united in support of disabled people’s rights and against austerity.
Speakers included Tony O’Reilly and Michael Lorimer from DPAC Northern Ireland, who delivered a statement on behalf of Ellen Clifford of DPAC UK, condemning the UK Government’s failure to protect disabled people.
They were joined by SDLP Leader Claire Hanna, Sorcha Eastwood from the Alliance Party, Ash Jones of the Green Party NI, and Gerry Carroll from People Before Profit.
